Star parties are held several times a year at the Orion Group Area, weather permitting. About 20 minutes after sunset, there’s a laser guided tour is given on the highlights of that evening sky, followed by visual observations with telescopes, lasting approximately 2 hours. Dates on our calendar.
The Astronomy Friends of The Parks assist the parks’ staff in presenting these programs.
Please bring your favorite red colored small light to preserve your night vision as you move around. Don’t worry if you don’t have one, we have loaners.
Day use fees apply. Please watch for people walking down the road to the Star Party. If you have a flashlight, please make sure you have red cellophane or a red light in it. It helps with the light pollution. Parking is across the road at the vault toilet. Thank you, so come and enjoy the night skies with us at City of Rocks.
